Julio E. Torres, MD, PhD
Since
1976, after having completed Hematology training at Maimonides
Hospital in Brooklyn and Medical Oncology (cancer medicine) at
Roswell Park Memorial Institute in Buffalo, Dr. Julio E. Torres has
lived and practiced Medical Oncology and blood diseases in Bethlehem
and Allentown, PA. In 2005 he joined Lehigh Valley Women’s
Cancer Center under the leadership of Dr. Gazi Abdulhay. All of Dr.
Torres’ hundreds of patients followed him to his new place of
practice, and he is not planning on retiring.
Dr. Torres earned his PhD while investigating superconductors at
L’Ecole Polytechnique de L’Universitè de Lausanne. His
areas of expertise include heart cancer, malignant lymphomas,
elucidating cases of anemia and other blood diseases, and caring for
women with ovarian and endometrial cancers.
To Dr. Torres, the daily care of patients, and their families, is the
awesome responsibility that our society has kindly entrusted upon
him. His close family, especially his wife Andrea and their children
Andrès, Brian, Marc, and Luke, constitutes the stabilizing factor as
he cares for patients. With God’s help and guidance he feels
that he continually strengthens his resolve.
Dr. Torres enjoys reading history, naval fiction, and belongs to the
Napoleonic Alliance. He speaks fluent French, German, Spanish, along
with English. As a family, The Torres’ enjoy archery and they
have fun building tree houses. His wife is a nurse at Sacred Heart
